vTiger 6 Updates: Settings

While a lot of the changes in Vtiger 6 affect your daily Vtiger use, many of the significant changes are actually behind the scenes in the Settings. We have decided to explore two of the elements specifically: the Picklist Editor and the Mail Converter.

The Picklist Editor is a dropdown field with a list of options available. It can be used to customize the picklist values in different modules. Changes to picklist in Vtiger 6 make it much easier to add, edit, and delete picklist values.

The Mail Converter helps with configuring mailbox scans for messages and converts them to appropriate entities in Vtiger. In addition, it can take actions on messages that match a criteria.

Overall, the Settings in Vtiger 6 require less typing, less clicks, and are much more intuitive than past versions. Watch the video below to see what it looks like!

vTiger Fonality Integration!

We wanted to take another quick break from the vTiger 6 updates to make a post about our new vTiger Fonality Integration! It is a great sync that helps you to efficiently manage the web forms that your customers are filling out.

With a web form generator, you can create web forms on demand that you can give to your marketing partners. Each partner or ad will have a unique web form that will track the source of the lead.

When a web form is filled out and submitted, a lead is created in the system and immediately connects to Fonality. It then dials the person who submitted the form and also dials the designated hunt group in Fonality (so 6 sales peoples’ phones ring at once).

This great integration can really help you make the most out of both your vTiger and Fonality systems and streamline your business process! Check it out at www.boruapps.com/product/427 today!

vTiger 6 Updates: Projects

VTiger 6 has dramatically improved the project management capabilities that users can take advantage of.  vTiger 5.4 has very basic project management capabilities, so these changes are especially exciting!
Early screenshots of vTiger 6 indicated that there were to be 3 main views through which you can view the project information you need: tabular view, summary view, and detail view. What we have found instead is that when you click on a project, you are first taken to the Project Summary tab, which shows the status of a project’s tasks, milestones, documents, etc. You can easily edit any of the fields, and create new information directly from this screen.

Along the righthand side, there are different tabs below the Project Summary tab to choose from. Project Details gives more info on the project; Comments allows you to view past comments and create new ones; Project Tasks list out the tasks as well as who they were assigned to, start/end dates, and their progress; and the list continues. Most tabs are summarized in the Project Summary page, but you can see further detail and history on each individual screen.

Overall, Projects in vTiger 6 are much more dynamic than they have been in the past. Editing capabilities are excellent, and the organization makes it very easy to synthesize the information.

vTiger-Google Apps Single Sign On

In addition to the vTiger 6 updates, we also wanted to let everyone know about our new Single Sign On (SSO) Application for vTiger and Google Apps! It helps you use both programs with greater ease and reduces the amount of time you spend logging in.

Most people use it by clicking the “Log in with Google” button on the vTiger login screen which will log you into your vTiger without you having to actually type in the information. The application works in reverse as well! If you log into vTiger first, SSO will login in your Google Apps as well.

Once you set up a new user in Google Apps, a vTiger user will automatically be created with the default profile of your choice.  This gives you the convenience of setting up your users in one place only.

vTiger 6 Updates: Search & Edit Capabilities

One of the fairly major improvements of vTiger 6 is the new search capabilities. The global search is much faster than previous versions and the results are presented in a way that makes it easy to find what you are looking for right away. The results are displayed in a drop-down list rather than loading a whole new screen, and they are organized within each module by the date they were created.

The editing capabilities from within various modules are much improved as well. The formatting in edit mode allows you to make changes with greater ease and do more with fewer clicks. Instead of having to hover over a field, click to edit, and then click to save, you only need to click once, make your change, and click elsewhere to save the change.

In addition, in the current vTiger model, searching for a Product within a Quote is an ordeal that requires you to click to open a popup window, type into the search bar, hit enter, and then click on the Product you wanted. With vTiger 6, you are able to search for the Product directly in the Quote screen and a type ahead feature will help you find what you’re looking for even faster.

vTiger 6 Updates: Dashboard

Another improved feature is the new Dashboard! Some of the changes include:
  • A cleaner visual layout
  • A more functional drag and drop feature with fewer glitches than the previous version
  • A History field that provides easy access to what you have recently been working on
  • The ability to easily customize exactly what you see on your home screen right from your home screen
The last point is especially exciting and helps you minimize clicks while in vTiger. From a "Mini List" option, you first select a Module and then select a Filter for that specific module. For example, if you choose Leads, you will be given the option to filter through all Leads, Hot Leads, or This Months Leads. Once a filter is selected, you are given the option to edit the fields that you can see for this module. You can choose as many or as few as you want! Once you hit save, the customized Module will then appear on your home screen.

vTiger 6 Updates: Layout Editor

With the release of vTiger 6 to open source quickly approaching, we are going to be making some posts about some of the new features! We will also be updating our Google+ so check that out as well.

One feature of vTiger 6 that has some pretty significant changes is the new layout editor. It is much easier to use, with great drag and drop capabilities for fields as well as sections! Check it out in this video:
